Six Sentence – March 4th

This is an excerpt from a novel that I’m working on entitled “Let Go”, which is about a serious, hardworking college freshman who befriends a girl of the opposite personality. In this excerpt the main character, Ryan, confronts the girl who threw a piece of paper at him in class. He wants to know what her deal is and she gives her side of the story. This is basically the first meeting between the main characters. So here it is.

“Hey, what was that all about in there?” he asked, wrinkling his brow and trying to be as civil as possible. He wasn’t usually this direct with strangers. She lifted her head up towards him, inhaling a puff of smoke, and shrugged.

“That’s it?” He winced, raising his voice a notch. “So what, you just pick on guys at random?”

“You seemed so uptight,” she replied in a low, flat tone.
