Six Sunday – 10/14/12

Welcome to another week of Six Sunday, the place to read snippets from some of the best writers out there. Hard to believe that we’re midway into October, and some of you are probably dreading the upcoming winter. Not me! Anyway, this week we focus back on Cammy and Ryan. In this scene, Cammy wants to know why Ryan doesn’t trust her and as Ryan attempts to give his reasons he notices that other people are listening in on the conversation. I know that many of you are curious about Cammy’s dad, and I promise to share that soon while Six Sunday is still around. I’ll be out for most of the day, so I apologize in advance if I don’t get to commenting on your sixes right away. Your comments are always welcome, so here we go:

Ryan looked around, realizing that two girls in their teens, sitting at a table to his right, were gawking at him in response to his boisterous voice. He blushed and smiled embarrassingly at the girls as they giggled and exchanged whispers into each other’s ears.

“Yo Barbie dolls!” Cammy glared at them. “I don’t remember anyone invitin’ ya to listen in on us, so mind your own fuckin’ business, or you’ll be wearin’ those smoothies!”

The two girls dropped their mouths wide open, and got up from their seats, taking their strawberry smoothies to go.

“Stupid bitch!” one of the girls grumbled, as they trotted towards the exit.

LOL Great show of their contradicting personalities! 🙂

  2. Wow, that’s a lot of attitude from Cammy. Thanks for sharing.

“…while Six Sunday is still around.” Wait – is it going away??

  3. Love Cammy! Great six. 🙂

    • Frank Fisher

Thanks, lots of people seem to like her too, she gives the story flavor.

  4. That’s one tough girl!

  5. siobhanmuir

Apparently she’s more attached than Ryan thought. Intriguing six, Frank. 🙂

I don’t like Cammy. Done. I said it. He doesn’t need to stay with her.

    • Frank Fisher

That’s just the way she is, and he doesn’t need to stay around her, but he does.

  7. Cammy sure doesn’t mince words!

  8. Blimey, Cammy’s got a good mouth on her. 🙂 This is a super depiction of the differences between their characters

    • Frank Fisher

Glad you feel that way. Cammy speaks her mind, and is direct to the point.

As I’m new to Six Sentence Sunday, I’m not familiar with your story, but I like what I read.

    • Frank Fisher

Thanks, it’s basically a YA novel about a college freshman whose left home in search of a new life and meets a carefree girl with a rough past.

  10. Well Cammy knows her mind, doesn’t she! Fun 6!

    • Frank Fisher

She does indeed and thanks for answering my question.

  11. LOL I can’t say if I’d react like Cammy, but I know there have been times I’ve wanted to. I like her. Like that she and Ryan are so different, too.

    • Frank Fisher

Well not everyone would react like that, but she does, especially when defending a friend. Glad you like their differences as it is a theme of the story.

  12. Snappy six! No l’m not keen on Cammy either l’m afraid. Wonder why it bothers her so much?

    • Frank Fisher

Normally she wouldn’t do things like that, but in this case she wants information from Ryan and is bothered by a couple of girls who prevent him from doing that. It’s just her character I suppose.

  13. This is a nice, concisely written six that has lot’s of flavor and attitude. Well done!
