I’m back! Back on Weekend Writing Warriors, that is! Be sure to click on the link to see the list of participants. And be sure to visit Rachel Barnard if you stop by as she is a good friend of mine, and is sharing a snippet from her newly released novel.
I’m sharing a snippet from my YA contemporary novella, Never Let Go, which used to be The Burning Night. It’s a finished work that is currently in the editing stage.

I followed my mom’s voice when I heard my sister call me from the kitchen. “Hey Mel, could you, like, give me a hand with something?”
After I set my suitcase down, I moved into the kitchen. “Yeah, so what you ne-”
Ashley greeted me with a mischievous grin as she held out a bottle in my direction. Just as I gasped, she lifted her thumb off the cap opening, and the next thing I knew a rush of liquid came spraying in my face.
I covered my face as the liquid stung my eyes. Ashley let out a great wave of teasing laughter, delighting in my suffering.
“A-ashley, you…you little!”
Typical sister bantering! I’d love to know your thoughts.
I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last post. Let’s just say that life has gotten in the way of my writing over the past few months. The good news is I recently earned my master’s degree in education, and I’ll be going on to do PhD studies in the fall.
