Why I Love It: Apart from the iconic Machu Picchu, the fact that the locals are friendly and the country in general is absolutely beautiful! I also liked the opportunity to ride vintage buses in Lima. And speaking of Lima, I recommend you take the time to explore this city. Most people seem to spend one day before heading up to Cuzco. There is plenty of police presence who actually care about the safety of tourists, so you won’t have to worry about safety (but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t forget about common sense).
When to Go: This refers more to when to visit Machu Picchu. I have learned that April and May are the best because this is after the rainy season.
Where to Go: Lima, Cuzco, Machu Picchu (obviously!), and Lake Titicaca. I also hear the southern coast close to Chile is nice too.
How Long Should You Stay: 1 week to 10 days
