Why I Love It: I made my first trip to Spain on a high school trip, and instantly fell in love with it. In fact, I would go on to spend a year there, learning Spanish. What’s not to love about it: siestas, tapas, slow-paced Mediterranean lifestyle. For me, it’s cheap beer (often with free tapas), late night dinners, and flamenco!

When to Go: This depends on where in the country you want to go. If it’s the north, June to August; Madrid, Barcelona, or Andalusia, Spring or Autumn. In general, I would recommend the spring or autumn months. The weather is usually pleasant, and the tourist count is relatively low, meaning more opportunities to meet locals.

Where to Go: Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Toledo, Granada, Asturias, and Galicia. I’ve traveled all over the country, and these are my favorite places!

How Long Should You Stay: 1 to 2 weeks
