Six Sunday – 01/06/13

The first Six Sunday of 2013. Thanks for spending part of your Sunday to check out my six. Hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve and that 2013 is starting off right for you. It is for me – so much to accomplish this year.  Thank you to those who responded to me about alternative for after SSS – much appreciated. This week, we continue from the last line of my previous six. Here, Cammy is giving Ryan more details about her dad. Your comments are always welcome, as well as appreciated. Here it is:

Ryan couldn’t close his mouth as every word sent shock waves throughout his body. Taking another swig of her beer, she stared glumly at the sand in front of her.

“Ya know that guy givin’ that girl a piggyback ride…my dad never did that. He was never there for me, never at any of my gymnastics competitions. Didn’t even say ‘congrats’ after I won a writing contest when I was eleven. Fact, he never even told me he loved me, or even proud of me – not once.”

Six Sunday – 12/30/12

The last Six Sunday of 2012. Thanks for spending part of your Sunday to check out my six. Sorry to those whose sixes I didn’t comment on; was traveling from Phoenix and when I got home, had Internet trouble. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are getting ready to ring in the new year. Now before I share my six, I wanted to mention something. Since we only have another month left of SS, I wanted to let you know that I will continue to share snippets of my novel after January. I don’t know if any of you plan to do the same, but it would be nice if we could keep the SS going. I plan to share mine on Saturdays, so for those who’ve loved my sixes follow me on Twitter as well as my blog. Likewise, I’ll do the same for you.

So this Sunday, I’m sharing a six where Cammy finally tells Ryan the truth about her dad. It’s a long story, so I’ll be using the next few Sundays to share it. In this six Cammy has just told Ryan that her dad never wanted her and Ryan thinks at first that she’s exaggerating. She speaks first:

“It’s true, my mom once told me how disappointed he was when he learned she was havin’ another girl. Ya know, he hardly held me as a baby and there ain’t any baby pictures of me with him.”

Ryan gazed at her with bulging eyes as his mouth fell open.

“Remember once watchin’ a videotape my mom made of me takin’ my first step. I was walkin’ towards my dad, who was watchin’ some shitty show on TV. When I stepped in front of him, he just picked me up and set me aside.”

Six Sunday – 12/23/12

It’s Six Sunday again. Thanks for spending part of your Sunday to check out my six, especially as you’re likely busy with all sorts of other things.   This week, I’m sharing a six from my novel where Ryan and Cammy are at the beach. Ryan asks her what the history is between her and her dad, but she won’t answer. He mentions to her talking to asking her friend Raz about it. The six starts off with Ryan making reference to Raz’s comment, so you know who says what. I always value your feedback. So here we go:

“He said I had to get it from you. Somethin’ about the story comin’ from the author,” he added. “And just now, with that little girl on the guy’s shoulders, you looked so sad when you saw them.”
“No I didn’t, had somethin’ in my eye.”
“Cammy, c’mon, don’t play dumb with me. I saw the way you looked at them – I knew you were lyin’ when you said you were fine.”
